Geological surveys are underway to start the construction of an artificial island in Batumi. The research is carried out by Zemin Teknik, the company that won the international tender, commissioned by Ambassadori Batumi Island.

The Zemin Teknik drilling ship arrived in Batumi on February 21st and will stay there until March 15th for research. The company will conduct relevant experiments on the site of the artificial island and study the basic soil samples.

The project Ambassadori Batumi Island envisages the creation of two artificial peninsulas and one island in the coastal water zone of the settlements of Bartskhana and Tamari.

According to the project, the island will include commercial, entertainment, sports, educational, health-treatment, residential and tourist-recreational infrastructure.

An investment agreement was signed between the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia and the Government of Adjara in September.
