Ambassadori Island Batumi Hosted International Expedition of Private Aviation Pilots
Ambassadori Island Batumi hosted 50 pilots who arrived in Batumi as part of an international expedition of private aviation pilots. The expedition participants travelled to Georgia from various European countries and the United States to attend the official opening ceremony of Ambassadori Aviation Village in Kachreti.
During their visit to Batumi, the pilots visited Ambassadori Island Batumi and experienced the scale of the project first-hand, explored the works already completed and the ongoing construction progress, and learned more about the project’s development vision and future plans. Particular attention was given to the aviation infrastructure incorporated into the project, including a runway, the development of which will create the opportunity to accommodate private aviation flights to the island in the future. One of the key directions of the project’s development is strengthening air connectivity, both between Georgia’s different regions and local resorts, as well as with international destinations.
The pilots were welcomed on the island by Tornike Keburia, Founder of Ambassadori Group, who also landed an aircraft at Ambassadori Island Batumi.
At Batumi International Airport, the expedition participants were welcomed by Zurab Pataradze, Chairman of the Government of the Autonomous Republic of Adjara, and Vakhtang Makharoblishvili, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Georgia to the Kingdom of Belgium and the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg and Head of the Mission of Georgia to the European Union.
“The Private Pilot Expedition to Georgia 2026” is taking place from August 29 to September 12 along the route Luxembourg – Georgia – Luxembourg. The expedition covers more than 4,000 nautical miles and includes 26 aircraft. The pilots come from various European countries and the United States, including Luxembourg, France, the Czech Republic, Bulgaria, Portugal, the Netherlands, Germany, Italy, Poland, Türkiye, and Great Britain.
The initiative is coordinated by Peter Sodermans, Honorary Consul of Georgia in Luxembourg, and is supported by the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association of Luxembourg (AOPA Luxembourg), the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association of Türkiye (AOPA Türkiye), and the Honorary Consulate of Georgia in Luxembourg.
“Batumi was important to include in the expedition route because it is one of Georgia’s key gateways to the world. Ambassadori Island Batumi represents the ambition we see in Georgia today — creating new destinations and infrastructure that can attract international visitors and connect the country even more closely with Europe. Georgia has enormous potential for the development of private aviation and aviation tourism, and one of the key objectives of our expedition is to demonstrate exactly this opportunity,” said Peter Sodermans, Honorary Consul of Georgia in Luxembourg and coordinator of the expedition.
The international aviation network associated with the initiative brings together approximately 17,000 members from countries around the world, creating a significant opportunity to increase the international visibility of Batumi and Adjara and introduce the region to a wider private aviation audience.

Following their visit to Batumi, the expedition participants will continue to Kakheti, where the official opening ceremony of Ambassadori Aviation Village will take place. The development of new aviation infrastructure and the implementation of international aviation initiatives will contribute to the growth of private aviation and aviation tourism in Georgia and strengthen the country’s position on the international general aviation map.
